Due to the overwhelming success of our pilot Concussion Intensive Therapy program and Research Study with former NFL players, the Dr. John E. Upledger Foundation is dedicated to the ongoing development of future programs and the valuable research they yield.
On September 24th, 6 additional former NFL players will participate in a second Concussion Intensive Program. Several of those players are now warriors in the awareness campaign about the debilitating long term effects of Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIS) and multiple concussions. We will continue to partner with them to spread the word about how manual therapies including CST, NM, and VM are critical missing pieces in existing concussion treatment protocol for people of all ages.
On November 8th-14th, 2016, we launch our next Military veterans PTSD Intensive Therapy Program and Research Study. If you are a certified therapist and would like to be considered for our ongoing programs, please fill out the Therapist Application found on the home page of the Upledger.org website.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla., Sept. 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Upledger Institute Clinic in conjunction with the Ricky Williams Foundation and the Dr. John E. Upledger Foundation announced earlier today, the start of their second concussion therapy research program aimed at treating current and former members of the NFL and the Canadian Football League.
Designed for football players with a predisposition to Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), the five-day intensive clinical program begins on Sept 25th at the headquarters of Upledger Institute International in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The intensive manual therapy program utilizes CranioSacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, Neural Manipulation and other healing modalities aimed at helping the body heal itself.
CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on treatment modality that releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance. Developed by Osteopathic Physician John E. Upledger, therapists focus upon the removal of restrictive forces within the membrane system surrounding the surface of the brain, the bones of the skull and vertebral column, including the sacrum and coccyx.
The objective of this study is to demonstrate that advanced therapies administered by certified, licensed manual therapists will help to alleviate the symptoms of post concussion syndrome.
Ricky Williams, who played professional football for 12 seasons and suffered repeated trauma to his head and body during his career, strongly supports this program. In describing his best year as a player, Williams said, "Right before Summer Camp, I went through the CranioSacral Intensive Program. I credit my wellbeing and my best season ever to the multi-modality manual therapy program I experienced at Upledger."
