About The Dr. John E. Upledger Foundation

The Upledger Foundation was formed in 1987 to provide financial assistance for those who need but cannot afford CranioSacral Therapy. The Foundation has helped thousands of patients overwhelmed with rising out-of-pocket medical expenses gain access to CranioSacral Therapy and other integrative modalities that treat malfunctions involving the brain and spinal cord, chronic pain and other conditions that cause physical and emotional impairments.

The CranioSacral Therapy funded by the Foundation was developed by osteopathic physician and surgeon John E. Upledger, who was named one of America's next wave of innovators by TIME magazine in 2001. CranioSacral Therapy has been credited for treating a host of conditions in patients from all over the world, including Olympian Mary Ellen Clark, whose treatments with Dr. Upledger successfully cured her vertigo and enabled her comeback to earn a second Olympic medal in diving.

CranioSacral Therapy is practiced worldwide by practitioners from medical doctors to manual therapists. Working through the body's craniosacral system, which influences the development and function of the brain and spinal cord, CranioSacral Therapy is used to detect restrictions that may be at the heart of sensory, motor and neurological dysfunctions. Proven effective in treating chronic pain and boosting the immune system, CranioSacral Therapy has aided patients with a wide range of conditions and the most difficult medical histories.

The Upledger Foundation has received national recognition for its contribution to the health betterment of war veterans, special needs children, and infants with wide-ranging health conditions such as formerly conjoined Egyptian twins Mohamad and Ahmed Ibrahim.

The Foundation’s patient assistance program has helped patients of all ages with a variety of conditions, including veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress Order and infants and children with birth-related trauma and emotional and physical challenges such as autism, cerebral palsy, scoliosis, depression, ADD and learning disabilities.

The Dr. John E. Upledger Foundation continues the legacy of giving to the CranioSacral community and those who benefit from the work.
